Teacher Vozady (left) said that there had stood a Mosque on this same spot for the last 182 years, the latest being built in 1995 at the cost of $60,000. He said an earlier structure had been used as a pigsty during the Khmer Rouge regime in their defiance of religion.

Imam Nong Vandy (left) said that this mosque was built in 1984 for around $10,000 and serves 382 families around the Kampong Chhnang area. Interestingly he said the mosque was built facing the wrong direction making it hard for local Muslims' practice of praying or 'Salat'.
